A Cycle Track between Canca Circle to Bodgeshwar Temple

For smooth flow of traffic on the Mapusa-Calangute road, wherever possible work for improvement of roads will be taken up, Minister for Waste Management Michael Lobo has said. Lobo was speaking at the inauguration of road work at Canca circle. The work was inaugurated at the hands of Lobo in the presence of Mapusa MLA Joshua D’Souza, sarpanch Milton Marques and others. The works are being executed by PWD in phases. Addressing media persons, Lobo said that the work of road widening of Verla-Canca circle up to Mapusa road with a provision of a divider was started around two years back and there were a lot of hurdles. “Due to finance issue, the work was delayed, now we have received sanction for Rs 1 crore to take up the road work from circle to Canca bandh and repairing of shoulders is going on and improvement of cross-junctions is need of the hour.” He further said, “The work of the stretch between Canca circle to Bodgeshwar temple will be taken up under GTDC at a cost of Rs 1.5 crore soon. Even a cycle track will come up. I appeal people to cooperate as patience will be needed when the work will be executed.”

Mapusa MLA Joshua D’Souza said, “The kiosks at the entrance of Mapusa will be shifted into the proposed Mapusa KTC bus stand enabling us to take up road widening.”  Sarpanch Milton Marques said, “I had made a letter to deputy collector in September to demolish illegal structure within road widening areas of boundary of Canca up to Bodgeshwar temple particularly around the circle.” Minister for Waste Management Michael Lobo said that “we have requested the Chief Minister to undertake soling of the acquired land for the new bus stand and do asphalting so that it can be used by interstate buses.”
